Agriculture in China

Here are a few agriculture related pictures I took while in China. Some were taken while riding in a sleeper bus at 60 miles an hour, some were taken while riding a bike down an extremely bumpy country road, and a couple of them I actually stopped moving long enough to take. The first picture in this group is one of my favorites and was taken on the fly riding down the road on a bike. I got lucky and captured this lady in her back swing. I can't imagine spending day after day out there doing that type of work. I found the landscape of the fields beautiful. I can't imagine the work that goes into cultivating row after row up the side of a steep hill. People literally utilized every square inch they could for growing crops. Their labor was truly a work of art.

Stillwater 1973

My mother got an additional batch of old slides put on CD. This is easily one of my favorites. I'm not sure what has caused this blue effect, but I think it really adds to the picture. This picture must have been taken in the fall of 1973 shortly after I was born.

My Cowboy Hat

My mother recently had a few old slides turned into pictures. This one was of me circa 1980. That was one sweet hat. If I remember correctly (which, of course, I do), my lovely, awesome sister sat on top of it while we were cruising around in the old family station wagon. My mom tried to reshape the hat. I'm not quite sure what all she did and used, but I do remember it involved panty hose (panty hose?!?!?!?!). Needless to say, after the hat was destroyed and reconstructed (with panty hose???!!!!!???!!!), it was never worn again. Thanks for trying to save my hat though mom, and thanks for capturing this awesome picture!

C Rok Soccer Game

C Rok's soccer game this past weekend included some stretching, some boredom on the sidelines, some sweet moves on the field, and some exhaustion at the end of the game. All in all a fun morning at the YMCA.

Lama Temple

This statue at the Lama Temple was easily one of the coolest things we saw in China. I had to be sneaky to get these pictures, so... As you can see from the sign, this enormous statue (roughly 85 feet tall) was carved from a single white sandalwood tree. Pretty impressive, huh

Temple in Jinghong

Here are some pictures from a temple we visited in Jinhong. It was a rainy day, but the temple was beautiful and really cool to explore. The detail work that covered all of the buildings was amazing.
